April 11, 2008
Chinese telecommunications equipment and solution provider Huawei announced on April 11 that the company has been chosen by Etisalat of the UAE (United Arab Emirates) to build a large-scale commercial FTTH (Fiber To The Home) network in the country, according to a press release by Huawei.

Back in 2006, the two companies began collaboration on the construction of Etisalat's nationwide UMTS (Universal Mobile Telecommunications System)/HSPA (High Speed Packet Access) network in the UAE. In April 2008, Huawei and Etisalat also announced an agreement to consolidate their partnership by sharing industry information, according to a Reuters report. Further details regarding the FTTH network project, however, were not yet disclosed.
